Engility CyberWarrior Scholarship

The Engility CyberWarrior Scholarship is a program created to help returning military veterans reenter the civilian workforce by offering cybersecurity certification training scholarships.

Award/No Award notifications will be emailed the week January 1, 2018

The two (2) recipients of the Engility CyberWarrior Scholarship will each receive an (ISC)² Certification Exam Voucher and EDU Package consisting of the following:

    1. One (ISC)² certification exam voucher of the recipient’s choice: CISSP, CSSLP, CCSP, HCISPP, SSCP or CAP
    2. Hardcover or digital textbook
    3. Hardcover or digital study guide
    4. Practice tests
    5. (ISC)² Direct in person seminar or Live Online seminar (as available). Travel and lodging not included.

NOTE: Availability of study tools and seminars is determined by certification chosen, location and other events beyond our control.

Engility CyberWarrior Scholarship Eligibility

    1. Must be honorably discharged from one of the five branches of the United States Military by 12/21/17 when scoring ends.
    2. Applicants may have been discharged from the military at any time prior to 12/21/17.
    3. Those currently serving in the National Guard or as a Reservist are eligible for consideration of award.
    4. Those with an existing (ISC)² Certification are eligible to apply.
    5. Engility and (ISC)² employees are not eligible to apply.

What You Will Need

    1. Resume (3 page maximum)
    2. One Letter of Recommendation outlining the following:
      • How long have you known the applicant and in what capacity?
      • What skills or abilities does the applicant have that will support him/her in attaining a certification?
      • What other information about the applicant should be taken into consideration?
      • Note: This letter may be from a current or previous supervisor, co-worker or mentor.
    3. Statement of Purpose (no more than three pages and should be double spaced):
      • Why do you want to enter the cybersecurity field, or expand your existing opportunities within the field, and what makes you a candidate for success within this area of specialization.
      • How will receiving the scholarship help you to achieve your goals.
      • Why do you need this scholarship in order to pursue this certification?
      • To support your goal of succeeding in the information/cybersecurity workforce, how are you currently working toward that goal? Attending conferences, attending individual classes, webinars, reading, etc.
      • What makes you stand out and sets you apart from the other applicants.

Scoring Criteria

Applicants will be scored by members of (ISC)², which may include active/inactive military members.

Scoring will be based upon three categories:

  1. Passion – 25%
  2. Merit – 25%
  3. Financial Need – 50%

NOTE: Recipients will have one year to take their certification exam. Not all applicants will receive a scholarship.
